How to repurpose your Talk Show on YouTube for Instagram?

Lights, Camera and Action! I wish that’s how easy it was to make a Talk Show.

Sadly, it isn’t. One episode = huge amount of resources and efforts. There are cameras, cameramen, lights, makeup artists and the list goes on and on. You put in so much effort just to let that episode sit and collect dust on Youtube?

Let’s see how you can reap the maximum benefits out of it by repurposing it and scaling up to other platforms.

Here are few ways to repurpose your Talk Show for Instagram:

#1 Reels, Reels and Reels

There is no such thing as too many reels. But hey, slow down. The goal should always be quality over quantity not the other way around. That’s one thing you need to keep in mind. In case you are wondering what the others are then check this out.

Now that we know our goal is to create good quality content let’s see how we can do it. Just pick some interesting sections from the video, resize to 1080 pixels x 1920 pixels and you are good to go.

Here is an example of The Ellen DeGeneres Show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, American comedian, television host, actress, writer and producer. The show is over, but the content isn’t.

Take a look at this clip. Posted in 2022 on Instagram from any episode aired in 2018. Proving the point that quality content never gets old.

Here’s another. For a reel to be content it doesn’t have to be hilarious. When I say it has to be interesting I mean it should interest your audience. So it can be hilarious or inspirational like this one:

Posting reel will serve two purposes - help you establish your brand on Instagram and act as the teaser for the full episode resulting in more traffic to the original video. You can add links to the bio or story which your audience can easily click and view.

#Add a dash of humour with Memes

Who doesn’t love memes? Is that even a question?! Memes have become one of the most popular social media marketing tools. 55% of 13–35-year-olds send memes every week, and 30% send them every day. An average millennial looks at 20-30 memes a day. According to studies, traditional marketing (on Facebook and Instagram) yields about 5% of engagement, whereas memes earn about 60% of the attention. CTRs in average marketing is approx. 6%, whereas in meme marketing is roughly 14%.

All stats taken from Meme Marketing: A sustainable tool or just a trend?

Now that we know about the magic of memes, let’s see how you can repurpose your talkshow to make memes out of it. Having video content means having access to tons of candid expressions and faces which can be used to make memes. I like how The Real Talk Show uses the candid expressions of its guest to make memes.

You don’t have to just stick to stills. You can use videos also.

#3 Story Cards

Story cards are one of my favourite options. Why? Because it is easier to make. Pick an interesting conversation, transcribe it, a few screenshots, put the images and text together and done. You have a complete post with high shareability.

These are my top 3 favourite ways of repurposing a Talk Show for Instagram. But the list is endless. Instagram provides a lot more options and features which widens the scope of repurposing. Here are 7 other Ways to Repurpose Content for Instagram. The good thing is that it doesn’t end here also. It all depends on how creative you can get.
